Privacy Policy for WalkBuddy
WalkBuddy is a simple dog walk timer. We designed it to work with as little data collection as possible. In its current version, WalkBuddy does not collect personal data.
What WalkBuddy stores
WalkBuddy uses your browser's localStorage to remember a few app preferences on your device:
- your dog's name, if you choose to enter one
- your selected goal mode
- your goal values
This information stays on your device. It is not sent to us.
Permissions the app may request
WalkBuddy may ask for a few device permissions so the app can work properly:
- DeviceMotion / accelerometer: used only on your device to help the app detect movement. This information is processed locally and is never transmitted.
- Geolocation: used only as a fallback when needed for walk-related app behavior. Your location is used locally on your device and is never transmitted.
- Notifications: used only to fire local alarms and reminders on your device. WalkBuddy does not use a push notification server.
What WalkBuddy does not do
- does not require an account
- does not use cookies
- does not show advertising
- does not sell data to third parties
- does not collect analytics that identify individual users
In plain terms: WalkBuddy runs mostly on your device. The app remembers your settings locally, and permissions are used only to make the timer work better for you.
Third parties
WalkBuddy does not sell, rent, or share personal data with third parties because the current version does not collect personal data in the first place.
Children's privacy
WalkBuddy is not designed to collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Changes to this policy
If WalkBuddy's features change in the future, this privacy policy may be updated to reflect those changes. The latest version will always be posted on this page.
